Our events are an integral part of the Auckland innovation and entrepreneurship calendar.
Those two words on their own sound romantic and together seem whimsical, but space archaeology is a pragmatic approach to unearthing valuable information before the satellites littering our orbit are destroyed to make way for more spacecraft.
During this talk, Alice took the audience on board an imaginary space liner to visit some of the most iconic heritage places in our solar system, from low Earth orbit to interstellar space. The other journey they got to witness was Alice’s journey to becoming a space archaeologist, learning how she reinvented her career and willed a profession into existence.
Alice’s visit to New Zealand to meet with students and staff was made possible by the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The Centre supports the Auckland Programme for Space Systems which gives students the opportunity to launch a satellite into space. Archaeology is the University of Auckland’s top-ranked subject.
