Greig Brebner and Scott Kington: Let’s be Blunt

24 October 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

It was on the grey streets of London that inventor Greig Brebner came up with the idea to reinvent the humble umbrella.

Years and many iterations later he partnered with product development manager Scott Kington. Together they formed the perfect storm of design and commerce.

Blunt Umbrellas have won multiple awards, collaborated with high-end designers such as Karen Walker, exported to 27 countries and have made hundreds of thousands of umbrellas. Their unique design was described by Wired as having “architectural integrity…as unbroken as the dome of St Peter’s”. Blunt Umbrellas are known for standing up to the elements as no other umbrella can.

Greig and Scott’s slow-burning success fully ignited after they chose to go against the traditional umbrella industry distribution model to take their technology to the world. Frustrated with the reluctance of global distributors to veer away from a planned obsolescence model in favour of selling a high-end product that will last, the Blunt team made the decision to take on creating their own global distribution network. They forged their brand around a reputation for innovation and integrity. Through wooing the loyalty of the people they are on their way to winning over the business world.
