In 2017 HMI Technologies launched Ohmio Hop shuttles, described as being the world’s first “self-driving and scalable public transport solution”. Successful trials have run at Christchurch Airport and Christchurch Art Gallery, with trials also underway at Olympic Park in Sydney and La Trobe University, Melbourne.
The business of autonomous automobiles is incredibly complex. Besides the obvious technological challenges, the ethical, legal and practical implications are enormous.
